This sweet 3-year-old poodle mix was rescued from a kill shelter after being found on the streets, and she’s now ready for the next chapter — a calm home where she can feel safe and truly thrive. Gigi is about 12 lbs of cuteness, loves to cuddle on the couch (and yes… she’s a fan of bedtime snuggles too), and she even does an adorable little snort when she’s excited or comfortable.

Because of her past, Gigi is still working through some anxiety, so she’d do best in a quiet, adult home (no kids) with an active couple or single person who’s home often — she really bonds with “her person.” She loves fetch and walks after breakfast and dinner, and she’s very food-motivated, which makes training easier. She’s potty trained, spayed, vaccinated, and takes no medications. Note: she can be a little possessive around food/treats, so a home that can follow simple boundaries will help her succeed.

If you’re looking for a true “wow” holiday lights experience without leaving the High Desert, you’ll want to add this one to your list. My friend Chris in Phelan decorates his home with nearly 30,000 lights every year — and it’s not just a static display. The lights are computer-controlled and synchronized to music, with animations and patterns that change from season to season. He starts putting everything up in July (yes, really) because that’s how long it takes to wire, test, and fine-tune the show.

The house sits on a stretch of 5-acre lots along a well-graded dirt road, just the second parcel in from the pavement, so there’s plenty of space to pull over, stop, and really take it in. The display grows or changes a bit every year, and pictures barely do it justice when the lights are dancing in sync with the music. Fun fact: my personal contribution is a 12-foot lighted tree that I gave him last year, which is now part of the show. It’s one of those passion projects that makes our local community feel extra special during the holidays. ✨

🤯 Wow fact: Yucaipa is home to a building that’s older than California itself. The Yucaipa Adobe was built in 1842 and is believed to be the oldest house in San Bernardino County — officially recognized as California Historical Landmark #528.

Here’s the part most people don’t know: in 1954, the Yucaipa Woman’s Club raised funds to save the adobe from demolition. Thanks to that local effort, it’s still standing today — a real “we saved our history” moment that Yucaipa can be proud of.
