A true Route 66 classic — locally loved, no-frills, and worth the stop.

Emma Jean’s Holland Burger Cafe — Old-School Diner Vibes + Big-Time Local Legend If you’ve lived in the High Desert for any amount of time, you’ve probably heard someone say, “You’ve gotta try Emma Jean’s.” And once you go, you get it. It’s the kind of classic Route 66 diner that doesn’t try to be trendy — it’s just consistently good, hearty, and packed with that nostalgic “road trip” energy. Come hungry and go with a local favorite like the Brian Burger or one of their comfort-food breakfast plates — this place is known for big portions and “stick-to-your-ribs” goodness. And yes… you’re not imagining it if you’ve spotted cameras out front on your way back from Silver Lakes — the diner even notes it’s available for filming, and it’s also been featured on Food Network. 🙂

💡 Did You Know? – Rate Headlines Can Be “Louder” Than the Final DataSmart buyers focus on preparation, not perfect timing. 📉🏡
Rates don’t move in a straight line — but preparation helps you take advantage when they dip.
Here’s a rate-related “behind the scenes” insight most buyers never hear: the market reacts quickly to the big monthly economic headlines — especially jobs and inflation reports — even though those early numbers often get revised later. In other words, the first headline can move rates… even if the final story ends up being softer. 😮 The real takeaway is simple: instead of waiting for the “perfect” headline, build a plan that lets you win no matter what the market does. That means getting fully pre-approved, knowing your comfortable monthly payment, and being ready to move quickly when the right home shows up. If rates improve after you’re under contract, a good lender can often help you explore options — but the buyers who benefit most are the ones who were prepared to act in the first place. ✅ And the encouraging part? We’ve already seen progress over the past year. One lender shared that buyers were commonly seeing around 7.1% about a year ago, and now well-qualified buyers may see options closer to 5.99% depending on the scenario. It’s a reminder that momentum matters — and staying ready can turn a small shift into real savings.

🏜️ Hometown HistoryApple Valley Edition
Most locals don’t realize this: Apple Valley’s name is tied to a working NASA radio telescope. The Goldstone Apple Valley Radio Telescope (GAVRT) is a 34-meter (112-foot) dish located at NASA’s Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex out in the Mojave Desert near Barstow. (So it’s “near here” — just not inside Apple Valley city limits.) Here’s the wow part: through the GAVRT program, students and citizen scientists can remotely operate the telescope from a computer to collect real radio-astronomy data — including tracking Jupiter and monitoring solar activity. It’s one of those hidden High Desert flexes that makes you proud to live here. 🛰️✨ |

We Rescue 4 Pawz is a local nonprofit doing incredible work in the High Desert to rescue, foster, and rehome dogs in need. Every week, we spotlight one of their adoptable pups right here in this newsletter.
And here's something personal: I now make a donation to We Rescue 4 Pawz every time I close a real estate deal. If you're ever looking for a cause to support, this one’s close to my heart. 💛
