Historic interior of Kaiser Steel mill in Fontana—later the filming location for Terminator 2’s steel-mill finale

🎬 Blockbuster reveal: The molten-steel finale of Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) was filmed at Fontana’s Kaiser Steel plant—closed since the early ’80s—where movie lighting and effects stood in for glowing metal.

A few years later, the site was cleared and reborn as the Auto Club Speedway (opened 1997), while steelmaking continued next door as California Steel Industries. From WWII steel to cinema legend to NASCAR—Fontana has range.
